ABOUT THE CONTAINER INDUSTRY
Shipping Containers have many names, which can
be a bit confusing. However shipping
are standard shapes, sizes and
construction virtually everywhere in the
world. When an ISO shipping
container is used solely for shipping
it can have four main names.- Shipping Container- ISO Container
- Conex Box.
WHAT IS AN ISBU
ISBU is from the name Inter-modal Steel
Building Unit. Since 2006 the Shipping
become very popular and trendy for use
as home, storage, prefab, and Business
Sizes: The common shipping containers
are 20' and 40' dry containers and the
refers to all containers and statistics
as TEW, meaning twenty foot containers. A 40'
container would be Referred to as 2
for your easy calculating. Other sizes of

53'. These sizes are specially made but are a
HISTORY OF SHIPPING
people think the Shipping Container was
invented in China -- not true. The first
shipping container was invented and Patented in
1956 by an American named Malcolm Mc Lean.
Mc Lean was not an ocean shipper, but
was a trucker and by 1956 he owned the largest
trucking fleet in the South and the fifth
largest trucking company in all the United
States. He saved his money
and bought his First Truck in 1934.
During those years all cargo was loaded and
unloaded in odd sized wooden crates. The process was
very slow and certainly not standardized.
CONTAINERS JUST HOT INSIDE WHEN THEY ARE USED FOR
Absolutely Not! Sure, if you don't know what
you're doing and don't insulate. The reality
the new Ceramic Spray insulation is
most effective when applied to metal. In fact,
if you build a
home, office, emergency shelter or
storage unitusing Ceramic Insulation Paint
(spray) the structure
will probably be more energy efficient
than a conventional home.
CONTAINERS IN MANY LOCATIONS BUT I AM HAVING
DIFFICULTY TO BUYING, WHY?
A- Most people think that all Stacks
of Shipping containers are surplus. That's not
true. The shipping
companies keep reserves (inventory) so
they will be immediately available for export
shipments. So when
you see all the shipping containers
that doesn't mean they are surplus or for
sale. Usually they only sell
the very old containers to the public.
AREN'T PREFAB HOMES
LOWER PRICED WHEN MADE IN CHINA?
No. The cost of shipping the Prefab or ISBU
home to the U.S. adds Too Much Expense so it
usually compensates for the added cost
of American labor when the home is built in
or Canada. In this situation, China is
not a better option unless you buy Flat Pack
or large quantities of custom ISBU.
WHAT ABOUT RUST AND
CORROSION ON A SHIPPING CONTAINER?
No. Remember, an ISBU is a Shipping Container
used for ocean shipping, humidity and
saltwater. A shipping container is a
special, non corrosive Corten steel; then,
with the Ceramic Insulation Paint, it
becomes virtually rust proof and also prevents
mold and is highly antiseptic.
TO LIVE IN A HOME THAT LOOKS LILKE A CARGO
Most of the homes do not look like a Shipping
Container. The ISBU is only the
shell. It can be covered with any
surface, Wood, stucco, vinyl siding, or
anything. Second, the
Cargo Container look is also becoming a

already being accepted. An ISBU is

HOMES TALL ENOUGH TO COMPLY WITH BUILDING CODES?
Building codes usually Require 8' Ceilings. An
ISBU is 8.6' tall internally. If you want a
ceiling you can buy HC containers which
are about 12" taller than the standard ISBU.
the standard ISBU is Even Taller than

WHY PROMOTE THE USE
OF ISBU IN HOME AND OFFICE CONSTRUCTION?
ISBU shipping container modules are the most
logical structure base for multiple reasons:
Strongest structure. Stronger than
